Start spreading the news

You want to know all about the Big Apple ? That's great but a little bit complicated. New-York is a small world in its way, you can do basically anything, provided you've got imagination. Taking a walk in the streets of Manhattan is a good start to grasp the atmosphere of the city. New-York is a breeding ground for visitors. Of course, there are typical things to do like going all the way up the Empire State Building or visit Ellis Island. But it would be a shame to do the entire trip just like it's written in the guidebook. That's why you should go off the beaten track. For instance, if you want to eat in a funny way and for cheap, here are some adresses locals gave us during our trip.

If you want a good burger, you may try at Le Parker Meridien Hotel on 56th Street. Hidden behind curtains is a restaurant called Burger Joint.

Burger-Joint

It's not the restaurant of the hotel, and it does not cost a fortune. A bit underground but very good, some say the best burgers in NY. Anyway they're good. If you're claustrophobic, you can go to Central Park, almost in front of the hotel.

Shake Shack

You'll find a small shack wisely called Shake Shack. There you can eat (another) good burger while enjoying the view of the park and of the surrounding buildings like Flat Iron. If you want to enjoy a drink while listening to good music, you have to go to the Village.

Wicked Willy's

Wicked Willy's is a nice bar rather cheap where (almost) new talents perform every night.

These are starting points. In order to enjoy the trip, you should ask people in the streets or in these restaurants and bar what their favorite places are.
